The Baby Three-Banded Armadillo (Tolypeutes matacus) is one of the few armadillo species that can roll itself completely into a ball — making it both adorable and nearly indestructible! Native to South America, these small mammals have flexible armor plates and a curious personality that makes them captivating companions for experienced exotic pet keepers. Cute, curious, and covered in armor, these little guys are surprisingly social and full of personality.

These armadillos are nocturnal by nature and enjoy exploring enclosed areas with loose soil or sand to dig in. Their diet consists of insects, mealworms, fruits, and the occasional veggies. They’re fairly low maintenance, provided they have warmth, soft ground, and a place to burrow and hide.
